Kasongan Village

Kasongan is a small village about 6.5 km south of Yogyakarta, which has become famous for its many pottery workshops. Visitors can meet and witness the artisans at work. Before each period of harvest, these artisans also work together to build a wagon for traditional ceremonies.
Visiting Kasongan village, the tourist will be welcomed warmly by local in habitants. May have a look the showroom crowded with ceramics handicrafts. If interest to see the ceramic making, we can visit some gallery that produce the special handicrafts at the back side. The processes are material kneading, shaping, drying and that take 2 - 4 days, and then will be burned in 6 - 9 hours, it will be painted to make lovely color at last.

It is now we call this place as Kasongan ; a village in kajen hamlet that is situated in low mountain with limestone soil. It is about 15 – 20 minutes to get here from Yogyakarta. This village has a beautiful rice field surround and it is clean area.

Many kinds of goods are produced, which most are household ones like moneyboxes, vases, animal figures, and many others.
